You will find us on top.

The family Munk have been devoting itself towards ascending systems for more than 110 - and very successfully, too: our company ranks amongst the leading companies in the industry.

There are obviously reasons for this rise to the top: passion and inventiveness have formed part of our family tradition for generations. The same applies to our clear commitment towards our local region, the town of Günzburg and therefore towards the people who live and work here.

Thanks to these solid foundations we are best equipped to meet the forthcoming challenges. We will continue to hold our own on the market with our farsightedness, customer service and creativeness.

In this way we maintain our top position in the ascending systems‘ sector - and will also win you over with solutions in the future which put you "on top" in economic and industrial safety terms.

I. Leopold Munk

Leopold Munk, Gründer und Unternehmensleiter von 1899 bis 1948

Leopold Munk, Founder and Managing Director from 1899 until 1948

The first step of success was set in 1899 by the only 23 year-old Leopold Munk with the establishment of the first wheelwright company in Reisensburg near Günzburg. Open-minded and enthusiastically, he was the first driving a bicycle in the village and in 1906 he installed his first engine into a machine. Beside wheelwright products ladders were already manufactured. After the 1. World War - the ladder range is already expanded -the complete manufacturing changed to ladders for fire-brigades and other ladders.

II. Ludwig Munk

Ludwig Munk: Managing Director from 1948 until 1974

A few years later his son Ludwig steps into his father’s footsteps and drove with his motorbike, of course the first in Reisensburg, and with the model of an extendable ladder for fire-brigades in the backpack to prospective customers. The Munks expanded their radius of action. In the middle of the reconstruction of Germany after the 2. World War Ludwig Munk set a clear indication of the new beginning: the first extension building is finished. Soon thereafter the wheelwright was given up, the production of high-quality ladders is the main program. With success: End of the 50's the second extension building was erected.

III. Leopold Munk

Leopold Munk: Unternehmensleiter von 1974 bis 1991 Leopold Munk: Managing Director from 1974 until 1991

1974 son Leopold took the leading of the company, expanded and modernized it, extended the product range and dedicated still more attention to the range of products for fire-brigades. His big product range made the company to one the most competent equipping partner for fire-brigades in the area. Leopold, talented developer, was travelling the whole area of Southern Germany, in order to accomplish the technical approvals for mobile assemble-ladders and ladders for fire-brigades.

IV. Ferdinand Munk

Unternehmensleiter von 1991 bis heute Ferdinand Munk: Managing Director from 1991 until today

1992 son Ferdinand, likewise more passionated fireman, took the leading of the company with only 31 years, after the early death of his father. Already 1982 he founded the company Ferdinand Munk Leiternbau, specialized in manufacturing ladders made of aluminum, steel and stainless steel. With this experience he knows to lead the company in the tradition of his ancestors without loosing the view for the development of new markets and innovations.

Today the GÜNZBURGER STEIGTECHNIK is acting in the international markets and -as an established company- its products are in use world-wide.
